Hello Friends,
Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us that "there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." This reminds us of the rhythm of life, which, like nature, is characterised by constant change. Just as winter turns into spring, life brings us moments of beginnings and endings, joy and sorrow, work and rest.
As many of our children embark on new school years, head off to university, or begin international adventures, like my son is currently doing, we find ourselves navigating many changes. In the life of our church, we have recently begun a new year, offering fresh opportunities for worship, service, and mission. For us as Methodists, this time also brings the anticipation of change through the stationing process, where Circuits and Ministers prayerfully discern what next. Here in the Calderdale Circuit, we await with open hearts to meet those who God has called to come alongside us on this continuing journey of faith. These moments of transition, though exciting, can also feel uncertain.
Change, while often daunting, invites us to trust and have courage. God teaches us that change is a natural part of life. Imagine if it were perpetually winter, we would miss the beauty and renewal of spring! In the same way, seasons of challenge, loss, or uncertainty eventually give way to growth, renewal, and new beginnings.
Rather than viewing change with fear, we are called to see it as a gift. Change reminds us that God is always at work, constantly renewing all things. It teaches us to let go of what has passed and to embrace what lies ahead. In this process, we are invited to lean into our faith, trusting that God is present with us in every transition.
As we step into this new chapter, whether it's a new school year, a new church year, a new adventure abroad, or new leadership in our circuits, let's approach it with open hearts and minds and with gratitude for the ongoing renewal of life and service.
In Faith & Friendship
