Southgate 50th anniversary weekend

In November 1974, three churches in the Elland/West Vale area agreed to merge to form Southgate Methodist Church. Over the weekend November 15th to 17th we celebrated the 50th anniversary of this event.

During Friday morning's Snackattack Community café, we held a display of memorabilia of the last 50, years--photos, programmes, orders of service leaflets, press cuttings, etc. showing various events and organisations connected with the church.

Then on the Sunday morning there was a special service at which we were joined by our friends from Bethesda. The service was led by two of our former ministers, Rev. Stephen Barnett and Rev. Michael Brown.

The service was followed by a delicious 2-course hot lunch prepared by members.

The display was also available at the lunch.
