Walking The Way – August 2026 – Castle Carr

The Walking The Way Team has arranged a very special walk for us on Sunday 9 August at 2.00 pm, when we will have the rare opportunity to explore the private grounds of Castle Carr.

The grounds are usually closed to the public and are only opened on a very limited basis, making this a unique chance to enjoy this beautiful and historic setting.

Important: Please approach via Wainstalls and continue straight along Castle Carr Road, ignoring any satnav instruction to turn left.

Drive through the arch at the end of the road and continue straight ahead.

Parking is available in the first clearing.

Walk Information

• Suitable for those with a moderate level of fitness

• Distance: Approximately 3.5 miles

• Walking boots recommended

• Walking poles advised for one short, steep descent

• There are two stiles, one of which has a wire across it (non-barbed)

• No dogs permitted due to sheep and lambs in the fields

• Please note that there are no facilities en route
